Many people think that Samsung phones are made in China and Japan but it’s not true. None of Samsung phones are made in China and Japan in 2022.
Most of the Samsung electronic devices including smartphones, tablets and wearables are made in Vietnam and about 10% smartphones are made in South Korea.
Low end and mid-range smartphones from M-series and F-series are made in India. Samsung has world’s largest smartphone manufacturing factory in India with mega capabilities.

All the Samsung Galaxy phone are not made in a single country. Samsung has many smartphone manufacturing plants across the world including Vietnam, India, Brazil, Indonesia and its origin country South Korea.
Vietnam
Most of the samsung phones are made in Vietnam. If you are using a Galaxy phone, then there are chances your phone is made in Vietnam.
Samsung has currently six factories in Vietnam including Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City. It also has an R&D (Research and development) center and a legal entity for sales in Hanoi.
General Director of Samsung Vietnam, Choi Joo Ho has stated that Samsung Vietnam is turning into strategic R&D hub from global manufacturing center.
China is the biggest export market for Samsung phones and components made in Vietnam. China imported $15.2 billion of export in 2021. Samsung’s made in Vietnam phones are also exported to United States, South Korea, UAE and Hongkong.
South Korea
South Korea is the origin country of Samsung Electronics but only about 10% of smartphones are made in South Korea.
And most of the phones made in South Korea are used in South Korea itself but a portion of it is dispatched to sell in other countries.
The main purpose of Samsung electronics in South Korea is to fulfill the electronics requirements in the country itself.
Brazil
Samsung has big plant in Brazil with more than 6000 employees in the countries. Samsung factory in Brazil is situated in the northern city of Manaus and the southern city of Campinas.
It is taking full advantage of tax rules of Brazil and providing smartphones at comparatively low price than other countries.
Brazil based Samsung electronics factory also produce smartphones for the export market to other countries.
This factory was setup in 1995 in Brazil and till now it is doing well. Samsung is slowly growing in Brazil and its revenue in billions is increasing year on year.
However, Brazil revenue is very less than revenue generated by Samsung in Vietnam.
India
Samsung has been manufacturing phones in India since 2007. Samsung electronics has launched new phone manufacturing facility in India on 09 Jul 2018.
The current capacity of Samsung’s Noida based factory in India is 120 million units a year. This facility aims to fulfil the Indian smartphone requirement and export phones to other parts of the worlds.
Samsung’s Noida based factory in India is the largest phone manufacturing factory across the world. And it shows Samsung’s strong commitment to India.
Samsung factory in India was set up in 1996 and it is one of the first global electronics manufacturing facilities set up in India.
According to Samsung official report published on their website all Samsung mobile phones sold in India, including the flagship Galaxy S-series and Galaxy Note series are made at the Noida based plant.
There are more than 1.5 lakhs Samsung retail outlets and about 3000 Samsung authorized service centers in India.
Indonesia
Samsung has entered in Indonesia in 2015. As of now it is able to produce about 900,000 units per month in West Java.
Having a youthful population and higher disposable incomes make Indonesia an attractive market for Samsung.
Samsung factory in Indonesia has tried to increase its phone production capacity to 18 million units per year in 2022. They have done an investment of $50 million for it.
The upscale in Indonesia and India based factory capacity will affect reduction in Vietnam based Samsung factories.
Samsung is planning to change the production capacities in different countries. It is planning to downscale the production to 50% in Vietnam, upscale the total production up to 20% in India and upscale to 6% in Indonesia.
Currently Vietnam based Samsung factory is producing about 80% of its total production.
